[old.fs] The Irony of Denial

[OLD POST] Date: 06.16.2008 | Navigate to the original post here.

The free online dictionary defines ‘denial’ this way:

1. A refusal to comply with or satisfy a request.
2.
a. A refusal to grant the truth of a statement or allegation; a contradiction.
b. Law  The opposing by a defendant of an allegation of the plaintiff.
3.
a. A refusal to accept or believe something, such as a doctrine or belief.
b. Psychology  An unconscious defense mechanism characterized by refusal to acknowledge painful realities, thoughts, or feelings.
4. The act of disowning or disavowing; repudiation.
5. Abstinence; self-denial.

Remember when you were a little kid?
You break something like a glass and, chances are, you try to get your way around it.
You put the blame on others who were with you, knowing–at that age–a lil’ bit that it was really you who did it.

Look at tfd’s fourth definition.
"..act of disowning.."

Now it’s quite common to the youth to have these so called ‘crushes’ or people they really admire…and more often than not, they, including us, try to deny the fact that we admire the person when other people start teasing us.
imagine: you really, really, really like the person, like you would fall head-over-heels (for guys) for her…but then, when the teasing comes up, you try to get away with it.

Remember eve? yes, I’m talking about the first woman to live on this dear blue planet we also live in called earth.
When God found out (that doesn’t mean in any way that God is not all-knowing!) about what they (Adam & Eve) had done, Adam pointed the finger to Eve. He reasoned that it was because of the woman that God gave him. Eve, on the other hand, pointed to the serpent.

There goes a history of the first "denial", and, more importantly, the first series of sin that mankind has committed.
ahh…this kind of thinking…such I call "musings…"
