Lately, the Baguio City police has been assigning their officers on foot patrols. I believe the very obvious reason for this is the ever continuing rise in the prices of petrol products.
This move, for me, is really a good one.

The presence of gangsta’s on the side walks was lessened, making people feel safer.
This jun-the-clutch-so-called foot patrols also have forced the pedestrians to use the overpasses (that one on the intersection near center mall; I think I wrote about this before…check my first post…).

This move lessened traffic, as the road became, I believe, easier for vehicles to pass without their drivers worrying about hitting a pedestrian who’d rather walk on the road than go up and down the overpass.
However, as the title would so suggest to those who know the language of Filipinos, this compliance on the part of the pedestrians was short-lived. This evening, pedestrians again were walking on the road, even at the very presence of some officers. I think, though, that the blame is not only to be on the pedestrians who are hard-headed(let’s face and admit it!), but also to be on the officers, who have their very station under the overpass, giving them so much opportunities to force the pedestrians not to walk on the road but to walk up and down the overpass instead.
The blame is to be put on both parties!
